Maybe you noticed this new place driving your kids to school like I did. Southern Cookhouse & Bar just opened on September 18, 2025, at 844 Hays Boulevard, in the clubhouse of the BLVD Apartments. It’s the former BLVD Grill space, just off Richmond Road (or Todd’s), and super convenient if you live in Chilesburg / Andover—or anywhere nearby.
The owners, Troy Thayer and Bryan Henderson, are bringing back favorites from Henderson’s old ventures (like Southern Deli & Tavern) and adding new ones. Expect a menu full of Southern comfort food, Kentucky Proud burgers, lots made from scratch, and plenty of options for those who want fried chicken, hearty sides, or something a bit lighter. There’s also a bar area with TVs so you can catch the game—and since this is neighborhood-centric, the vibe aims to be welcoming, cozy, and casual.
